Have you ever met someone who gives off negative vibes, and you can't explain it?
I mean...someone ( I'm talking about a total stranger to you, not someone you just heard of ) that gives off creepy, almost evil vibes? I like to think ( and have been told so ) that I'm a great judge of character given first impressions but sometimes there is something about a person that just makes your head scream "STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS PERSON....BAD NEWS". and just makes you want to avoid any conversation with that person......

Do I have the SHINNING?

5. Yep.
There have been a few people that I just avoid based on these kinds of vibes without even speaking to them. It usually has something to do with their demeanor and the look on their face, not just in an instant but a look that doesn't change over time.

12. I wasn't a political person at all
before the 2000 election. I knew nothing of W but when I saw his face and his demeanor, I was immediately moved to say, "Oh, no. This can not happen." I became involved, checked the field for someone who matched my own beliefs, started working for Kucinich, and became a peace activist.

I got those vibes something terrible from Bush without knowing a thing at all about him. It wasn't long before I felt extremely vindicated.

14. In my step class there is this guy who never smiles
he is socially awkward, he laughs at the wrong times that's if he laughs at all and he is about 28 years old. He is very, very intense and it makes me leary. While everyone is joking and cutting up trying to get through the 50 minutes of cardio...he just pounds away at the steps....kinda freaky...

I keep my eye on him....just sayin...

17. sounds to me like he just wants to be left alone, and get what he pays for his step-class money
not his socializing money

18. True! But he could buy a step and the music and do it alone
at his place. I don't know...maybe I read to much into it but I would rather be cautious than naive.

19. no problem....he probably wants to take part in a class that everyone else is entitled to
and, if he has a mental problem, is probably not aware of what he looks like to others...I don't know what I'm rambling about here but....

20. I know what you mean
I am the last person to want to prevent someone from attempting to socialize no matter how hard it is for them. It's just that some of the events we have witnessed over the last few years just make me on alert more that's all. He has never been rude to me or anyone....

24. yes, and I have found that it's good to listen to yourself
if something right off the bat gives you the creeps, it's probably best to avoid that person. Granted, they may be perfectly normal and fine, but... they may not be.

That said, I try make it a point to give everyone a chance, even if my initial reaction is that they'll probably just squander that chance and be the asshat my gut told me they would be. I've seldom been wrong about it, although I don't always derive pleasure from that, since sometimes other friends fall for the BS and get hurt emotionally when they finally get burned by them.

Did you meet Dick Cheney or something?

28. yeah, and it's usually a narcissist
...and as the survivor of an abusive marriage to a pathological narcissist, I recognize the signals.

That said, I also have had the opportunity to come face to face with a few really twisted (perhaps "evil", perhaps mentally ill) in some volunteer work that I have done some years ago. I have seen a look in the eyes of sadists and killers that was chilling. And I have observed two people that I could only describe (although I'm not sure this phenomenon exists outside a religious construct) as demon possessed. A psychologist would probably call it something more scientific.
