1. Blue Cheer.
my knowledge of all things music is as shallow as it is narrow but their version kicks the Who's arse!

*and my grammar sucketh*

p.s. sound a bit punk-ish , too.

2. Can't vote on this - I have not heard Alan Jackson's version, but
I love the three others, even they are as different as can be - shows what you can do with a very simple, good song and some creativity.
FWIW, Eddie Cochran's "C'mon Everybody" was covered in real '70's Wretched Excess style by Humble Pie, live:

It's all what you want to make it.
I'm sure there are people asking who the hell is Eddie Cochran?

3. For some of us here...
The Flying Lizards' version is, also, grand...

4. I'm torn between Cochran and The Who
I've always thought "Live At Leeds" was the BEST live album by ANY "classic British rock" band. Yes, the Stones' "Get Yer Ya Yas Out" is on the list, with "Midnight Rambler" being its centerpiece, but elsewhere, the music feels leaden and sluggish. Maybe because Taylor was still feeling his way, maybe because Keef was high, maybe both. "Leeds" is a better album, IMHO.

Even though Eddie's "big three" has always been Summertime Blues, C'Mon Everybody and Something Else, THIS is my personal favorite from his catalog:

Well, Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie come and dance with me
Well, I teach you every dance from here and 'cross the sea
Well, now first we hop, yeah-yeah-yeah, then we bop
Yeah-yeah-yeah, then we swap or rock 'n' roll
We'll do the stroll
Well Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie got my blue suede shoes
A pink carnation and my black slacks too
Well, first we hop, yeah-yeah-yeah, then we bop
Yeah-yeah-yeah, then we slop or rock 'n' roll
We'll do the stroll
Well, baby-baby you will have to wait
I'll be ready at eight
I keep a-knockin' at your front door
All the cats are hoppin' at the big 5-4
Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie when we reach the hall
Well, we rock around the clock and really have a ball
Well, now first we hop, yeah-yeah-yeah, then we bop
Yeah-yeah-yeah, then we slop or rock 'n' roll
We'll do the stroll

:toast:
