1. My dear Xicano!
I too long to see one!

That is a stunning picture...

Alas, I live far too south to see such a thing.

They just don't happen over SoCal...

:hi:

2. I was supprised to see it in
Idaho a few years back. I had more important things on my mind, but it made for a nice diversion.

Sheets of green light that filled the whole sky, gave me goosebumps!

6. "GOOD LORD! What's going on in there?" "Aurora Borealis."
"A...Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely in your kitchen."
"Yes."
"Can I see it?"
"No."

8. It's definitely
on my list, too, and has been forever. What an incredibly awesome sight it must be to see swaying in the sky. :hi:

9. I saw them in NYC as a child.
I remember it being said that it was very unusual for this to be seen in NY. People kept saying "Once in a lifetime". What I remember is what looked like flowing curtains of colored lights in the night sky.

16. In Iowa I have seen them 3 times in my life
the last in August @ 3 years back. They were pale green, some pink and white mixed in.
I stood in awe for about three hours.
Want to trade? You can come down here and look at cornfields and I can go up there and look at the sky?

11. Saw it once here in western NY, many years ago
My friend and I were driving in the hills around the Finger Lakes, so at first it didn't register as to what we were seeing--we thought it was city light pollution...till we realized we weren't near any cities! We were so stunned we pulled the car over and got out to stare at it. Rubes we was...

And it was a mild one, too--long fingers of very pale green/blue light. I'd probably fall over if I saw one as dramatic as the pic in your sig (beautiful shot, BTW).

15. I saw one in Vermont once
Not as vivid as the one in that photo (beautiful photo) but stunning and awe-inspiring nonetheless. Nature is just so amazing, isn't it?
