only to be dashed by poor coaching (and a confused QB).

And Ole Miss wins 25-23. On their last gasp on 4th and 26 from the Rebels' 48, Jefferson hits Tolliver on a 42-yard pass to the six-yard line. The clock was stopped with one second left to move the chains. Once the ball was spotted, LSU had to snap it immediately. They did not send on the field goal team with no timeouts. I understand that as you may not have been able to get it off in time. What I don't understand is how you can GROUNJD THE BALL on your last play? Your last play? From the six-yard line. If it is on your quarterback, so be it. What kind of coaching is this? You tell them to snap it immediately and throw for the end zone. After a third down play lost yards to Ridley, LSU waited from :26 seconds to :09 left to call their final timeout. Pitiful, horrible clock management. An embarrassing ending. LSU should have won the game. Coaching contributed to the loss. Did you tell him to ground the ball with one second left and the clock about to run out? I doubt it. How can you wait so long to call timeout? How can you not have a play called on the final play? Why did they try to keep throwing afte reaching the 31-yard line to begin with? Jasper would have had a 48-yard field attempt. He has a great leg. By running and calling timeout, you could have made it closer. Instead, keep trying to throw with a quarterback who takes sacks regularly. He took one. It helped get you beat. You have to understand your personnel, strengths and weaknesses. This was a colossal failure on the part of this coaching staff. Call timeout. How do you let 17 seconds elapse before you do so? With at least 10 more seconds left, you had plenty of time to kick the field goal. How do you not have a play called? If you did and your quarterback clocked the ball on his own with one second left, you had better start looking for another quarterback. Terrible ending to what could have been a thrilling win in a game that Ole Miss controlled most of the way."
