Can somebody help me figure out the name of this horror movie?

I remember watching it when I was a kid so it's either early 80s or 70s. I can only remember bits and pieces. Essentially it was about a family who moves back to the wifes home town from the big city, but the town is run by some weird religious cult(possibly devil worshipers). The dad is ostracized by the cult and the rest of the family falls in with the cult. There is a scene where the dad meets somebody else who has been shunned by the cult and this kid lives in the woods(tree house?) and has his mouth sewn shut but he keeps a pair scissors hidden in the floor boards. The only other scene I remember is where the cult keeps these giant corn stalk bales on the periphery of the town and at the end the dad is tied up into one and he looks over and sees that the cornstalks have skeletons of other people who opposed the cult tied to them. Does anybody know the name of this movie? it scared the shit out of m when I was a kid.
