1960-70s decor, wrt Mad Men
I love watching Mad Men partially because of the awesome set design, but it just doesn't seem that it is authentic. I mean, I know that the furnishings are authentic, but I question whether there was such prolific use of those very new styles. Then I think: well, this is Madison Avenue and this is probably one of the most likely demographics to have been an early adopter, but even so, I would think that some of the older members of the firm (don't know their names but you know who I mean) at least would have tended to stick with the older designs. And the teacher, there is NO way in hell that a grade school teacher would have such trendy kitchen wallpaper at that time. I can't buy it, even though I love looking at it.

For comparison, I watched a film from 1969 that I had actually never even seen before (although I certainly knew *of* if): Bob & Mary & Ted & Alice (is that the right name?) and just look at the furnishings in that film. I could not find *any* "modern" design elements, and these were upper middle class Californians, exactly the demographic you'd expect to have gone for the trend. The closest they came was the god-awful harvest gold bathroom (ugh!).

I would like to see a film about an architectural firm that was filmed in the 60s-70s, just to see what their decor would have looked like. I could imagine that an architect from that period *might* have an office like in Mad Men.
