SHIT! This is not the time for my TV to die...
no picture, just audio. Tried swapping cables and tried two DVD players and the cable box in all three inputs.

Works for five minutes, then blackness. Amazingly, hitting it brings the picture back for a few minutes, which probably means the flyback transformer is shot.

Well, it was about time to get a new one, but I can't afford the one I want just now.

(When my ancient 20" monitor died, I lucked out with a fantastic deal on a 23" Acer lcd monitor two days later-- maybe such luck again.)

Good luck finding something you like for a price you're willing to pay. :)

2. Looked at this week's flyers, too, and it's amazing...
how the prices of 50" plasma TVs has dropped.

(I'll probably end up with something a little smaller)

5. Panasonic P50S1 from Amazon for me!
$999 with blu-ray player bundled and free shipping. I couldn't resist, even though it's on 4-7 week backorder.

4. I had a 30" Samsung crt hdtv that was that way. The picture would move up
but would go down if I lifted one end of the set or gave it a slap. It cost me $1000 and lasted 6 years. I made a mistake earlier this year of getting a 50" plasma that sucks more energy than the rest of my house. I no longer use that for casual viewing.
