I'd forgotten what a great series "Becker" was.
I've gone through the first six episodes and I haven't stopped laughing once. Things like that are definitely good for a person's outlook.

1. I've always loved "Becker" because...
he gets away with saying all the shit I can't get away with.

2. It's good.
A lot of people don't like it, though. I always found it funny.

3. It used to come on here at 2am. I was insomniac at the time.
Becker and Gang became good friends of mine.

4. I wouldn't watch it when it first ran.
but I have watched the reruns for years now. Whenever I see it is on, I watch it. Like most shows I watch it is because I like the ensemble. I didn't like it as well after the owner of the cafe changed. (I can't think of their names right now.) I liked Becker better when he was single and miserable like me.

5. Same here I never watched until it hit reruns
then discovered how funny it was. I never watched Seinfeld either until it hit reruns. My neighbor says he has never seen more than a couple minutes of a Seinfeld.

9. I watched Seinfeld new because of my daughter,
but she hates Becker. Funny thing is..if I am watching Becker and she stays in the room more than a few minutes, she is laughing like crazy but insists she still does not like the show.

One of her favorite shows now is 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'. Our special deal for HBO ends soon, so she will probably be renting it. ;)

8. Two definite pluses:
1) Recurring guest shots by Lauri "I was KamaAina's Teenage Crush" Hendler. :loveya:

2) An independent blind man, Isaac the newsstand owner. I loved it when he kicked everyone's ass at Scrabble using Brailled tiles!

10. I enjoyed Ted Danson "playing against type"...
...because there was a time where that boy was ABSOLUTELY doomed to spending the rest of his life playing "Sam Malone."

Becker had a few layers, which also made it worth watching. The character may have been an irritable jerk, but when push came to shove, he'd never let anyone land in the mud. While it was seldom his first choice, he'd always offer the required helping hand and / or pep talk in the eleventh hour.

It would have been really easy to just play him as a straight-on jerk, and to Danson's credit (as well as the show's writers) he didn't.

:toast:
