To my Catalonian forbearers, not blood relatives, but ideological precursors. The people who grew up there and became soldiers in defense of their homeland, and all those who came to join them from around the world, to fight for something better in the time of the Spanish Civil War. To the ones who died at the hands of Franco's troops, but also to the ones who survived. Who were not brought down by the authoritarians, nor destroyed by betrayal, but who kept fighting, and kept living anyway. My heart goes out to you tonight.
