So, I'm MAKING everyone's Christmas gift this year.
A while back, I stumbled across a collection of marinade/dipping sauce recipes on the internet. I've since made a few batches at home, and have been told that I should market it. Soooo, I'm going to make some and give it to my friends for Christmas. I'm going to make two flavors: Tomato/Basil, and Chipotle/Garlic. Everyone will get a bottle of each.

I went online, found some cool 8.5 ounce glass bottles, caps, and shrink-wrap seals. I ordered 48 bottles.

This stuff is soooo good. You can put a bowl out with some small pieces of hard bread for an appetizer at a dinner with friends, or spread it on chicken, fish, or beef before cooking. My personal favorite is to spread it over skin-on chicken before baking it in the oven.

Now I'm trying to design some cool labels for the bottles, which will say "Christopher's Private Reserve" and "Dipping Sauce/Marinade".

I'm pretty excited. It'll be the first time I've ever given as a gift something that I've made with my own hands. It's going to be mailed to family and friends in 12 states.

Is that hokey? It's actually really good.

1. I'd like to order two, please!
Seriously, that sounds like a great present. It shows you put a lot of love and hard work into it.

4. It's actually quite cost effective as well. The bottles cost about $38. The ingredients which
include olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, red wine vinegar, and other seasonings won't cost much more than about $50 dollars. The labels will only cost what a package of Avery labels cost plus whatever time it takes for me to design them.

I need some kind of graphic for the background of the label though. I was thinking of some kind of stylized sunset.

And hey, who knows? If everyone likes it, I just might think of marketing it online. Special Discount for DU'ers of course!

People enjoy, or at least they should, something homemade, especially when it's something really delicious. :hi:

ETA: come on over to Cooking and Baking and post your recipes. Please?

5. Yanno, I'd love nothing more than to be DU's supplier of awesome marinade/dipping sauces.
Who knows? Maybe I could start a business that caters to people who can prove they're DU members!

For that matter, maybe a DU barter community could be established.

There are a few DU'ers I'd love send some to... You'd be one. Free of course!
