Sad News Breaking: Uga VII has died
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 06:00 PM by NightWatcher
This year has SUCKED FOR US

The University of Georgia's nationally famous mascot, Uga VII, died unexpectedly this morning in Savannah

Owner Frank "Sonny" Seiler said the English bulldog, named Loran's Best after the legendary sideline reporter, died of heart-related causes, the university announced this evening. The Savannah Morning News reported that it was a heart attack.

He was four years old.

“We are all in a state of shock,” Seiler said in a news release. “We had no warning whatsoever.”

Uga VII made his debut in an Aug. 30, 2008, game against Georgia Southern University, two months after his predecessor, Uga VI, died.

There will be no live mascot for Saturday’s game against the University of Kentucky.

Uga VIII will not be chosen until next year, Seiler said in the news release.

5. Poor Uga.
Uga is one of the great American traditions. Uga VII was way too short lived.

I'd say that the King is dead, long live the King, except we appear to be entering a period where there is no King, and no heir apparent. A truly sad day for Uga-dom.

Best wishes to all you U Ga grads out there. Safe passage to Uga VII.

How 'bout them Dawgs?
