Help with wireless router, please.
I have a wireless router at my home. My wife can pick-up the signal an connect without any problem. Her laptop is a PC, as is the desktop.

We have had several friends, all with Macs, not be able to access.

How do I set it up so that they can get on? I am not concerned with them needing a password, as long as they can connect.

TIA.:hi:

1. In du groups there is a computer help section. Some very knowledgeable
and helpful people there.

2. might be your security settings on the wireless router

each device has (coincidentally) a MAC address, which you may need to authorize through the router configuration software. This sort of means that, even if someone knows your password, they can only connect to your wireless network with a specific laptop (or other equipment) that's been pre-authorized.

Or you may be able to change your router set-up so that the MAC number isn't required, but just a password to gain access.

I don't know a lot about routers, other than they're a pain in the ass much of the time.

4. Do you have your access protected?
What kind of router is it? And do you live in a close neighborhood where others, besides your friends, might gain access to your network?
