So... whaddaya think of this one
Well, mind you, this isn't EXACTLY what I'm thinking, but it's the general shape and style. I'm know of a seamstress who could probably make my dress for me, so what I've been doing is looking for what I think will be flattering, and then making minor adjustments.

The one I want will not have sleeves, but instead I'll wear a wrap-like thing to cover my arms.

Also, It won't be full-length. Probably mid-calf.

And under no circumstances will it be made in any color that remotely resembles white, off-white, or ivory.

(And the crown thingy headpiece is off the table as well.)

2. no date set
no long gown because the logistics of the wedding are in question (I may be getting married on a boat).

I was thinking a dark pewter color. I hate the way I look in light colored clothes, and white is out because I don't care to look like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.

7. dark pewter would be nice, you could
accent with silver -- earrings, wrap, etc. Would be lovely.

Do you know what season you'll be getting married? Soon (late fall/early winter)? Spring?

You want a dress that is almost nothing like this dress. I see. :P

No, it's a nice bodice...I think the total effect and feel of this dress might be lost if you lose too much of the length (I would cut it back, but at-most to sweeper-length. I think it really does need to reach the floor to not lose the overall effect the dressmaker intended.) and cut the sleeves though. It's supposed to feel regal and look princessy. That's a large part of why it can get away with such an elegant simplicity...otherwise it just comes across as a little too plain for a wedding gown. Though, the wrap might work without the sleeves; I dunno.

I am also not feeling the white. {edit: I see you're thinking a dark-pewter tone...that could work.}

Increasingly, bold colors are becoming more commonplace, though there seems to be an implied requirement to pair them with a more-muted tones, grey or white. Most of all though it's your (plural. you and his.) day, do what y'all want and the hell with anybody else's opinion.

6. I think it would look very lovely on you.
And I see no reason why ivory wouldn't be the perfect color, either. This is so exciting! :D
