Anyone else here drink a lot of non-alcoholic beer?
I can't drink diet soda at all unless it is Diet Rite or something without aspartame and now Diet Rite is starting to make my stomach sick too.

Anyway, the only ingredients in beer are barley and hops; natural ingredients. For a person with severe dyspepsia it seems to help a lot. And it is cheaper than all those herbal infused drinks that I would like to drink but they cost about $1.50 a bottle.

Of course I am getter the non-alcoholic so I don't get drunk. I drink about 3 of them a day.

Plus I love the taste of beer!

1. Some make you smell like a brewery
It's the hops, not the alcahol - but a lot of folks don't know better, and may think you're half in the bag.

2. Maybe I should be spraying more mouth spray. I thought about how it might
smell but didn't give it much thought after that. I always thought people that smelled like beer were drinking real beer.

3. I've tried all of them I could find and the winner is a shock even to me...
Flavor wise (as in "it tastes like beer"), the hands down winner is Old Millwater. That's really funny since I can't stand their regular beer. The NA tastes more like beer than the regular does! The worst tasting were the more expensive ones like Kalibur (fuity). I'd put American second in line and it has the added benefit of being dirt cheap.

4. There is no such thing as non alcoholic beer
Don't believe the marketing hype. There is no such thing as non alcoholic beer. It is an oxymoron.

For thousands of years beer meant an alcoholic beverage. 30 years ago this changed? Because some corporation said so?

I don't think so.

I don't know what to call the stuff you drink but it is not beer.

5. I think there is a small percent of alcohol
Not enough to get you intoxicated on a regular amount.

Anyways people I've been around called it "near beer".

Nice ring to it.

Edit to add that I think that is why it is good on my stomach. I read that hops is a natural relaxer.

10. I don't know which is more of a useless beverage
non-alcoholic beer or decaf coffee. I guess at least the pretend beer is an alternative to drinking something with high fructose corn poison in it.

17. wonder what employers would say if you drank NA beer at work?
I guess if it's not 0% alcohol, they would still consider it drinking on the job.

My ex used to get these herbal tea drinks of some sort (I forget) but it was about 1% alcohol, and since she was a featherweight, by the time it was half drunk, so was she!

18. I drink NA Old Milwaukee
It's the only one that's actually brewed like real beer, and then had the alcohol removed. So it actually tastes like beer. That said, their regular beer is for shit.

19. Have you tried Ginger Ale?
That is known to settle a stomach. Make sure you get the old-fashioned kind made with real sugar and real ginger.

22. That's a good idea. The only place I can get that here is at the health food
store which is not that close to me. And I don't want to drink to much sugar because I am doing weight watchers, (non-alcoholic beer is 1 point)

I'll make a point of trying to get some. Thanks for the information.

I used to drink that Fuze stuff and I got a bunch when it was 2 for $1.00 but now it is about $1.49 a bottle!

I would love to be able to walk into a health food store and buy up all the fancy herbal drinks but they are too expensive to drink all the time.

23. Recipes for ginger ale are online
http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/homemade_ginger_ale/

It might be less expensive to make it yourself. You can also control how much sugar and the type of sugar you use. I have not tried it myself.

I had no AC and to keep cool and hydrated NA beer was good stuff. Low in calories too.
