This is my last poem for the workshop I'm taking...
Nobody knows where I am

Image

The camera
reaches out

misses
her eyes
blank
not smiling

she is
though

Her mouth
an open door

strange
as though she’s someplace
else

Maybe
she loves you

No way to know
not in this
picture

you’ll need
to get
closer

to her thousand
daylit
thoughts

Can you

2. My dear NYC_SKP!
Glad you enjoyed it!

I had to end with a question, but no question mark...

I had to weave into the original poem some other poetic fragments...those are in italics.

I'm really happy with it.

Tomorrow night I'll find out what my classmates think!

11. It is like two poems interwoven, each is the subtext for the other...

5. I think the last one of yours that I commented on,I said "one of the best of yours that I ever read"
Edited on Tue Nov-17-09 12:44 AM by abq e streeter
ditto AT LEAST, for this one. Very encouraging for me , in my late fifties now, and still trying to improve as a singer, musician, and hoping to maybe even resume writing again, to see that in your 60's ( if I'm not mistaken) you're still growing as a poet. This really was one of those to read several times over and then ponder.

7. My dear abq e streeter...
Yes, I'm in my 60's....nearly 66 now! I started writing poetry about 4 years ago...

It's never too late! I hope to grow as long as I live.

This workshop has shown me that I can do it...

I really appreciate your very thoughtful comments.

Thank you!

8. My dear Capn Sunshine...
This one isn't about sex...for once.

It was originally inspired by a photo of a woman who was smiling, but not with her eyes. Her expression struck me, and this poem was the result.

Thank you!

16. "You'll need to get closer ...
... can you?"

It's the question every woman wants to ask, and no man wants to answer.

I believe you really benefitted from that workshop-most people don't- and it's a pleasure to read your work.

I definitely will be taking more workshops from Brendan; he is outstanding!

20. Sticks in your head for a time
Like it. Well done.

brings me back to a time during the 60's where you can go into coffee houses in The Village in NY, listen to ... then discuss. Cool, very cool.
