Has anybody else been annoyed by somebody who plays Devil's Advocate a lot?!1

To start with, we aren't too simpatico politically. Or, rather, she claims not to know enough about politics to be committed, or claims she doesn't trust ANY politician, but always seems to be "up" on current events and able to spout wingnut rationales---(I don't accuse others, much, of spouting "talking points" per se).

But, aside from politics, she seems to enjoy getting under people's skin by being "contrarian" as she calls it. Until she's CALLED on it.

Anyway, you describe a situation and she skips the main point and throws in bunches of questions on tangential details. When I finally get blunt and TELL her she appears to be dancing all around the whole POINT of the story, she falls back into the I-just-like-to-play-Devil's-Advocate." Today she added to that, "just bringing up ANOTHER SIDE." Uh, I submit that in a DESCRIPTION there ain't a lot of "sides" involved.

But, now: Another "side"?!1

They claim to be Independent, yet always defend the right and are outraged by the left (even for the same behavior which they defended from the right, of course). That's the not-so-new talking point for Rush's dittoheads, that they don't trust any politician, that they want less government, that they are just speaking truth-to-power and have awoken from a slumber to put a stop to Obama or whatever similar sounding bullshit. They always want the "other" side - ie: their own - to dominate. If you tried to bring up "the other side" to something they said, they would shout you down.
