Hmmm, let's see, 4th down at your own 30 yard line, less than two minutes to go, up six points. Old Jughead already zipped the ball down the field into the endzone the last drive. What shall we do? Oh, let's go for it, and if we turn the ball over, Jughead has the ball at the 30 yard line with plenty of time to get it in. Brilliant!

:banghead:

Seriously, do the New England Patriots actually pay someone to come up with that? Honestly?

1. Has it ever occured to you..
That you despise the Colts for the same thing the Ravens did? I've always wondered how those who hate what the Colts did can root for the Ravens.

2. TZ, TZ, TZ.....
What is the nickname of the Indianapolis NFL Franchise? What logo adorns its helmet? What section of the NFL Hall of Fame is Johnny Unitas and Art Donovan in? Can Cleveland ever complain about any of that? Case closed.

I dislike the Indianapolis NFL Franchise so much that if the Redskins were ever to make it to a Superbowl against the Indianapolis NFL Franchise, not only would I root for the Redskins, I'd actually dress up in a moo-moo and pig nose like those nutty fans of your team do. That's how much I despise the Indianapolis NFL Franchise.

4. The Barry Levinson film "The Band That Wouldn't Die" covered the travesty nicely
Irsay pere was literally shopping the team around. He went to Jacksonville. He went to Memphis. He went to Phoenix. Even Phoenix, at the time desperate for big-time sports, wouldn't deal with the scuzzball. Finally Indian-no-place stepped in and "saved" the day.

Meanwhile, bereft of its team, the Baltimore Colts Marching band was reduced to taking gigs at other NFL stadia. One of these was at the original "Dog Pound" in Cleveland. Modell liked what he saw, and thought of Bawlmer when he got in a silly pissing match with Cleveland.

Not at all the same thing.

5. Yeah. Indiana didn't give 40 million of its taxpayer money
away to the Colts like the state of Maryland did. They STOLE the Browns away from a city THAT WAS SELLING OUT MOST GAMES. And then MADE the taxpayers of this state PAY FOR IT and the stadium. No nothing fucking wrong, or corrupt about that. And all the bullshit about leaving the colors behind doesn't cover up the fact that the Ravens organization fucked over Cleveland BAD. I personally think its worse that Baltimore, knowing what it was like did this. This is why I would love to see the Ravens go 0-16, every year.
BTW, bash the Redskins all you like but they built their stadium with ZIP public funds.

6. Maryland paid for the Ravens' stadium with lottery funds.
Edited on Mon Nov-16-09 01:20 PM by Tommy_Carcetti
Not the general tax fund, but rather the lottery, which is freely discretionary.

If there are going to be publicly funded stadiums, I like the way Maryland did it.

Oh, and the State of Maryland did pay $70 million to build access roads to Fed Ex Field/Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. Not to mention that JKC was a douche who tried to screw Baltimore royally by blocking the NFL's return to the city on numerous prior occassions.

7. Did the Colts get lost on a roundabout in DC and ended up heading
to Indianapolis, instead of Jacksonville?

10. I know, those hypocritical Baltimore Browns fans!
Edited on Mon Nov-16-09 02:41 PM by Tommy_Carcetti
Watching their teams' players challenge team records set by old Cleveland Browns players, having Jim Brown in their section of the NFL Hall of Fame. It's a good thing they had to wait 12 years to get an NFL team back. I mean, what are they going to expect, the NFL to announce the city is getting a new expansion team with their old team's name, history and records three months after their old team announces the move? Like that would ever happen.....

Oh, wait...

11. Yeah, it would be a shame
if Cleveland got a new team that pretty much became a yearly contender right away and won a Super Bowl.

You should try yoga, or perhaps some weed. That might get you to relax.

12. Hey, it's not Cleveland's fault that the 2000 Ravens had the greatest D in NFL history.
Just sayin'.

13. I agree with the call.
Tom Brady has built a career on 5-yard passes. He is tall enough to throw the ball over the top of the line and very seldom does it get batted down. It's a high-percentage play. If the ball had not been bobbled it's first down, game over, Pats win.

On the other hand, Manning has a reputation for moving the ball long distances in a very short time. Punting the ball and turning it over to Manning with a couple minutes left was probably more risky than Brady completing a short pass for a first down.
