1. I was a big Equalizer fan
One of the best produced and acted series of it's kind.
Rest in peace, Mr. Woodward.

3. He was also the Spirit of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol...

He brought robustness and a perfect pitch to the
oft played character, bringing a memorable warmth
to a role without many lines.

He did Dickens proud!

R.I.P.

19. He was absolutely terrific in that
He's one of the reasons why the George C. Scott version is my favorite of all The Christmas Carols.

4. What a shame.
I met his son, Peter, who is also an actor, at a sci-fi convention a few years ago. He was there because of his involvement in the Babylon 5 spin-off series, Crusade. He was a delightful man and spoke fondly of his father and how pleased he was to have any chance to work with him. It sounds like they are a close family.

RIP, Mr. Woodward.

7. Agreed. Breaker Morant was the first thing I saw him in.
It was a truly great movie and he was wonderful in it. I liked the Equalizer, too. (It's a nice fantasy...somebody out there capable of fixing whatever horrors are wrong with your life.)
RIP, Mr. Woodward.

10. God speed ye, Mr. Equalizer. You will be missed.
I LOVED that show. He and Jack Bristow of ALIAS were the two biggest middle-aged bada**es ever on TV.

15. I loved Edward Woodward in everything he did. "Breaker Morant" was some simply
astonishing acting. The hand-hold with Bryan Brown on the walk to the execution site was amazing and touching.

I remember something he said in an interview once with an American entertainment reporter. He said many of his British colleagues were asking him: "How can you lower yourself to work in American television?" Woodward, no snob, evidently, replied (and this is a paraphrase from memory twenty years or so after the fact): "I told them, it's television. It pays well, it's pretty much like television in England, and hey! None of THEM are working!" Great guy.

I also remember after he had a heart attack, receiving several thousand get-well cards from his American fans. He didn't return to work until he had answered every one of them personally. The man had class, and he will be missed... :-(
