The kittys brought us a new pet, Lucky the dwarf hamster.
Last night we took our daughter and 4 of her friends to Knott's Berry Farm. After dropping off everyone I headed to a fast food joint to get us a late night dinner. In my absence Dingo our male cat brought in a "mouse". Alley grabbed Dingo which dropped his prize. My wife took the unhurt prize out and released it in vegetation along side of the house. When I got home Alley and Mini-Alley gushed how cute the little critter was, and tried to I.D. it on-line. They could not find a short tailed mouse that lived in our area that even remotely resembled the critter.

This morning my wife noticed the cats had a small firewood pile on our side porch under surveillance. Sure enough she moved some of the firewood and found the same tiny little creature.

Some how a little dwarf hamster was roaming the wilds of Manhattan Beach, met Dingo and survived a cat capture. Since she was released in the wild and does not have the smarts to stay away from our cats, coupled with heavy lobbying from the Mini, we now have a new family member.

BTW I cannot believe how much they want for a Habitrail these days.

I've never kept a rodent before...

5. Um.. I'm not springing for shots. It's a hamster!!!
We got special hamster food, and I'm trying to run down a habitrail with tubes and such for her to roam around while driving our cats crazy. I'm drawing the line on shots or implants or what ever the modern hamster affectations are these days.

A rodents incisors grow continuously. Aside from that, there are no shots that I'm aware of...

7. Our son's hamster got loose and gnawed a hole in the baseboard. Took quite a chunk before we caught
... up with him. LOL. Cute little guy, and our son (who was about 8 at the time) really loved him.

Might be an urban myth, but you never know.

13. If that is the case we fell right in to their trap, um, er, cage.
Or maybe it was PetCo who launched Miss Lucky at us.. Hmmm another conspiracy uncovered.
