I cooked some really healthy stuff
Edited on Sun Nov-15-09 08:16 PM by lillypaddle
whole wheat angel hair pasta with chicken breast and some fresh veggies (zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, broccoli, bok choy), but I find I want something HEAVY. I like the "idea" of what I cooked, and it tastes okay, but it isn't fulfilling.

Am I hopeless?

on edit: I'd really like a cheeseburger!

1. Try mixed-brown rice
Like 7-grain blend, in place of the pasta. Much more filling. Especially if you mix some black/red beans in, and some corn. You get a whole protein out of the beans/rice, plus plenty of carbs. :)

Good for you for eating healthy!

2. yeah, I eat lots of beans
red beans and brown rice - lots of salsa, jalapeno, melted cheese, chopped onion - but that seems to satify my craving for flavor and heaviness, that the other dish doesn't cut.

3. You just eat lots of garlic bread with it. Kinda ruins the whole healthy
part, but mmmmmmm!

4. oh yeah!
You read my mind -- some garlic french bread would really make a difference. And a ton of parmesan cheese on top. You've got my number. :)

7. Include a small amount of a strongly-flavored salty hard cheese...
Edited on Sun Nov-15-09 08:54 PM by Chan790
Parmesan would work as would Romano or Manchego, but make sure you get the good stuff. You'll need less of it to obtain superior flavor and that economy will save you both calories and money in the long run.

11. I do that sometimes.
Luckily not tonight! I ate well but don't have that "not fulfilling" feeling you're talking about.

Stir fried asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and red onion with a chunked tomato tossed in at the end. Cooked w/ coconut oil with freshly ground salt and dehydrated garlic.

I'm with everyone else on the cheese thing.... if it weren't for cheese I'd be better at going vegan. For dessert you should slice an apple and sit down with it and a knife and a chunk of cheddar. :)
