My nearly feral cat...
Edited on Sun Nov-15-09 07:17 AM by zanne
Sam, who reluctantly and with alot of patience and bribing finally came into the house four years ago, jumped up on my bed last night and snuggled against me. I couldn't believe it; I was so happy, I didn't move for an hour! He actually put his little head on my leg and used it as a pillow. That was worth all the beginning hisses and scratches from him when we first brought him in. He was so scared at first. He's finally relaxing and trusting me now. Sigh. I feel such a sense of accomplishment, like I climbed a mountain! And I feel like his kitty mommy now.

5. warms my heart to hear this...
And that's a great photo - he really had a lot on his mind!

Huge accomplishment - congrats! I felt similar feelings of pride and accomplishment when our MommaKitty first brought us her three babies over four years ago... to be trusted by a mommacat or formerly feral cat feels wonderful.

10. He looks almost like the beautiful black tom cat
who used to visit me from time to time....he never ever let me pet him. :( He was absolutely gorgeous until he tangled with something bigger than him & wrecked one of his ears. The closest thing he ever came to being "tamed" was meowing at me through the screen door to come feed him. He'd sleep on top of my trash can, or in a few of my planters & greet me in the morning, or when I came home from work. Every now & then, he'd go on patrol.....one day he did & never came back.

Glad to hear your rescue is learning to trust...it does take a very very long time, but it's worth the wait.

RIP Big Black Kitty
