I had my first middle of the night fire alarm. Ask me anything.

I have no idea how this actually happens, but someone, at 1:30 in the morning, managed to set their popcorn on fire to the point that the hallway was filled with smoke.

I was out like a light, but my roommate luckily managed to wake me up. However, the buzzing at this hour of the morning and the "you need to get out" prompted a "THE FUCK?" response from me.

I now feel like half the Carleton U residence population has seen me in my pink flannel Mickey Mouse pajamas.

I'm going back to sleep, but I'll answer stuff tomorrow. :P

1. Some asshole pulled it like five times last year
I went to the University of Tennessee last year (not this year). I never got used to it. I was in, what, Stage B sleep, and every time it went off, I knew I was going to die. I just knew it. And I was putting on my clothes as fast as I could while still basically asleep just to run the fuck out of that dorm, which I just knew was going to collapse any second.

It never hit me that it was just a prank until I would hear my neighbors yell "FUCK!" and "Goddammit. It's (time) in the FUCKING MORNING!" And then I would just be pissed. And I would get back in and watch a movie or something because there was no way I was getting back to sleep. It was the same exact drill every time.

Um, I guess there wasn't really a question in that post.

3. I remember it being a prank a few times my freshman year.
Then, one morning at 7:00 a.m., I was getting ready for class and ignored it. A counselor came by and told me it was for real. Some idiot had started their iron on fire. Who irons at 7:00 a.m.?

2. Been there done that
Had to wake my roommate up. He didn't believe it was the alarm going off. the bell on our hall was still an actual bell at that point, and it was jacked up.

4. Don't worry. You'll learn to sleep through those.
And if it's a real alarm, you may never know it.
