I just went to a blues concert here in my town tonight
Frank Walker and the Outcast Blues Band..and it was great, mostly black performers, one man who is 67 yrs old who jumps off the stage and does somersaults when he dances.

anyway, Im with a bunch of old women like myself, we are sitting together and have nothing to lose, we are all widows, so we dont care if we die dancing, because dancing is good. we dont care what color we are, we dont care how old we are, we just dance.

I mean, they are playing Sweet Home Chicago, and Devil with a Blue Dress, and songs by the Temptations and Proud Mary..of course we are going to dance

but, its a small town, and the audience was all these older white people. and, they just sit there. They dont even tap their feet. they just watch, smiling.

Than, I remembered why I preferred, when I was young, why I liked going to black parties more than white ones in the 60s. Because they were more fun.

what phenomenon keeps white people from dancing...???? not all white people, I dont want to be racist, but tonight, NO ONE but us old ladies who dont give a shit got up and danced. the rest of the crowd just sat there and clapped a little.

This was a great band by the way...

is it some Protestant WASP thing? are they afraid of letting go? whats the fear of dancing or even letting the music move you??

How can people not want to dance to Sweet Home Chicago???

am I out of line?

anyway Im pooped. I danced like an old madwoman.

1. yes
"is it some Protestant WASP thing? are they afraid of letting go?" that is why we drink and drug and why the 60's happened.

good for you, sometimes the "brave" can get others going

there is a great video going around be e-mail at some outdoor concert were a couple of kids get the crowd going, I will see if I can find it or maybe somebody with a faster connection knows what I am talking about...?
