The concert is still more than a month away and already I'm sick of the music.

Me. Alto. Chesapeake Choral Arts Society. Yay.

I'm used to singing Christmas music in September. It's what we choral singers do. I'm usually sick of it before Hallowe'en, and that's been the case this year.

I've been working on my music off and on all day. The one I'm most sick of is Amahl and the Night Visitors. I think the opera (written for TV in the '50s) is 45 minutes long; the chorus has about ten of those. It makes for an odd rehearsal. Can't wait until the full cast is with us so we can go through the whole thing.

We're doing Star of Bethlehem by John Williams, written for "Home Alone." I think that's one of my faves. And a poem set to music that - sorry, composer - I just. do. not. like. I don't like the poem, either.

Okay, I'm done bitching. I'm putting the music away for the night.

Thank you for listening.

5. Don't you hate the repetitive crap?
The chorus I sang with in Long Beach (back home in CA) did a singalong with the audience as a portion of each Christmas concert. HATED it.

4. No.
It's a small community chorus with an infinitesimal budget - so small that it's clear that this chorus exists solely for the enjoyment of its singers (rather than, say, as a philanthropic organization).

I wish you could be there, too.

7. You are so lucky to have the gift of a great voice. I've always wanted to
be able to sing. I can sing Stevie Nicks songs and that is it.
