1. Oklahoma plays A&M today
Hopefully they play better than they did last week :grr:

Alas, I'm going to miss a lot of today's action, especially in the afternoon games, because I'm going to a union rally and bargaining session for a fair contract for Graduate Employees at the University of Illinois. But I look forward to getting back and finding out how the afternoon games went!

I waited awhile to see if you would post this thread because I felt bad for stealing your thunder from last week but it appears your busy.

Ole Miss/Tenn is shaping up to be a good early game. :hi:

"Ole Miss/Tenn is shaping up to be a good early game. :hi:"

Thanks for the tip--I think I'll switch over to that game, because Illinois-Northwestern just went to halftime. (Northwestern leads 7-3; the game has been dull with a capital BORING.)

Edited on Sat Nov-14-09 01:28 PM by Drunken Irishman
Because if we beat TCU and Idaho beats you guys, we're going to the BCS if we win out.

Isn't that funny? You need us to win and we need you to lose.

You're our biggest fan today and we're your rival's biggest fan. haha

4. If you like angry rivalry games, watch the Boise State/Idaho game
I'm a huge BSU fan, and this rivalry is intense. It's been one sided for years, in BSU's favor, but Idaho is 7-3 this year with some good wins. This game could get really, really nasty if it's close. The rivalry isn't well known outside the state, but it's been pretty vicious over the years, with some pretty memorable games.

If you're interested, it's on ESPNU at 3:30 Eastern time.

16. I honestly don't notice any major differences when it comes to broadcasts
As far as technology they have the yellow lines in most broadcasts, sometimes a blue line to indicate the line of scrimmage. Commentary is the same to me, mostly about the game but a lot of off topic chatter.

FTR, I like College and Pros equally.

26. I agree
I knew Stanford could score the points because of the two players I previously mentioned but I wasn't so sure Stanford's defense can hold them as much as they did. I knew Stanford was going to score more points then USC, I just didn't expect it by that much but Stanford really pulled ahead late. It was a two touchdown game all day.

Stanford is now 7-3 and while they were ranked #25 in an AP poll, they should be in the BCS Standings come Sunday.

where only Cornell has what we call a "fascist marching band", i.e. one that actually marches.

Indeed, back in the '60s, when Stanford was a perennial loser in the then- Pac 8, there was talk of them joining the Ivies.

They just gave up.

It was over, of course, but they were going to spike the ball to stop the clock and
the receivers were walking back to the line of scrimmage. I haven't seen that before I
don't think. Everybody usually at the least goes through the motions.

Not the U.

That is the key to the game is if they can stop their passing game which isn't hard to stop. Arizona State's defense has played well all season but did not hold up well in the first drive. Unless the D can keep it close it's going to be a long night for the Devils.

51. Illinois vs Northwestern made me late to work.
I'm not a huge football fan, and I usually don't work saturdays, so imagine my surprise when every parking space from Memorial Stadium to Grainger Library was taken, except for the permit spots. I ended up parking in one of those and obsessively checking out the windows to make sure I hadn't gotten towed.

Also, there were people grilling in the library parking-lot after the game. It was funny.
