Apparently, I'm a newly-inducted member of the pinched nerve club...
Fan-fucking-tastic. :eyes: Just what I needed.

For the record, by the symptoms the neurologist said it was C5.

Now accepting survival tips and tricks.

1. Finally....these lifts in my shoes have helped...but...
that means I have to wear shoes at least 50% of the time.

I truly hope you find relief...

2. I have nothing but lots of hugs and empathy.

:loveya:

I had a pinched nerve in L4-L5 that was able to be corrected with a series of epidurals.

I had constant stabbing pains radiating down into my left leg from my butt. It was a constant agony that I couldn't ignore for months. I am so very fortunate that I have a pain management doctor, and that he is a surgeon.

I hope you can do something to get relief.

3. Disclaimer: this is NOT medical advice
I've suffered from neck problems for a year and a half now (between C5-C6). Primarily, according to one doc, caused by a bone spur and the kind of job I have (looking down at a computer all day).

Here are my suggestions:

Yoga~ because stretching helps tremendously. Physical therapy was a lifesaver for me! Strengthening the muscles that support the area helps.

If nerves are involved, ice helps. Even though the physical therapist didn't recommend it, I find a hot wash cloth works sometimes too (I know this may seem like a contradiction).

Unfortunately, I had to have 3 steroid injections into my neck *and* a rhizotomy. The Rhizotomy worked wonders.

Don't turn your head in one direction too long. Try to limit time on the computer (something I still struggle with, obviously!).

Surgery should be a LAST resort (that is a consensus among all but one of the doctors I went to).

Good luck. Be good to yourself and the pain will be manageable.

4. Welcome to the club!!
This is going to sound stupid, but I mildly pinched a nerve playing a video game (Tiger Woods golf on the Wii) because it's so realistic and I was playing too much without stretching.

Anyways, I agree with the above poster, try to do a lot of stretching and hopefully that'll help somewhat. Also, I would give myself massages in that area and on the neck and back and that seemed to help, not to mention that I had to give up my game for a few weeks :)

5. I can believe it....
(meaning believe you did it with a video game). I just woke up with mine one day, so I guess anything is possible.

6. Yoga helped me, too
I just have to find the time to do it more often.

Welcome to one of the clubs that no one wants to be a member of!

:hi:
