What a great movie.

Penn is simply one of the greatest actors of our time. He generally makes provocative films that address real contemporary issues, movies like this one, about the history of the gay rights struggle, and one of my personal favorites, "Dead Man Walking" about the death penalty.

Even when he makes a bad movie it's always worth watching simply because he's in it.

I recommend this movie highly by the way. I never heard of it, and simply was channel surfing to try to find television to bore me to sleep. Needless to say, I stayed up later than I'd hoped.

1. Dead Man Walking was an amazing movie.
Sarandon got her oscar for it, but Penn absolutely deserved one too.

6. Consider watching "The Times of Harvey Milk" first...
If you haven't seen it already... "The Times of Harvey Milk" is an Academy Award winning documentary narrated by Harvey Fierstein. It's free on Hulu...

It's as touching and inspiring like MILK, and I admired Sean Penn's performance and MILK as a whole all that much more after watching it. Trust me.. It's a must see documentary whether you choose to watch it before or after seeing MILK.

7. I think, Peg, that "Dead Man Walking" is one of my favorites of his movies.
I read a book by one of the victims of Robert Lee Willie, Debbie Morris, called "Forgiving the Dead Man Walking," the young woman held captive and repeated raped by him, that when she saw the movie she though Penn was Robert Lee Willie.

Ms. Morris, by the way, met Sister Prejean in real life and they became fast friends. It's a fascinating book.

(I bought it on a remainder sale in some airport, but it's a book worth reading.)

3. I think they could make a really cool movie about....
your being stuck in a Hotel late at night this week, watching "Milk".

I think you should be played by Luke Wilson and in the movie, the lead in "Milk" will be played by Kanye West.

4. Well, um, no. Luke Wilson is good looking. But I'm sure we could make a movie that would
put tired guys trying to sleep in yet another stinking hotel to sleep.

5. I will likely see that movie (over and over on cable)
in a Motel 6 as they are cheap and let my dog stay for free.

And they really do leave the light on for ya'.

8. Just don't let it be Christopher Walken...
It'd freak out some of the people in E/E.

Of course that might be a good thing.

10. I'm sure that many of them over there think Walken would be appropriate.
Regrettably, even Walken is still too good looking for the role.

9. Penn may indeed be the greatest living cinematic actor right now
Penn Becomes Entirely Different People Just Through His Acting. The same guy can play Milk, a psychotic seargent in Vietnam, a man on death row, and a high school stoner, and he's convincing in every role.
