I have an individual office in a larger suite of offices with other people. All very nice folks and I consider them friends and have worked with them for several years. However, part of what I do in my job is keep track of checks related to various real estate deals sometimes, so I'm very careful to keep my door locked when I'm not in my office. However, I gave a spare key to someone in my office in case there is an emergency and someone has to access my office and I'm not there. Also, in case I lose my key I know one other person has the key.
So today this person in my office who has the other key said, "Oh I was in your office using your typewriter today while you were out because mine ran out of ribbon and I had to type a form."
And I asked her not to access my office unless I knew ahead of time that she was going to do so. And she really got pissed off at me and acted like I being a total dick to her. And I consider her a friend and maybe I lost her friendship. *sigh*
Is this weird of me?
(To me it's like if you gave me a key to your house to feed your cat while out of town and didn't get the key back and one day I just say "Hey I ran out of sugar and came over to your (locked) house to see if you had any extra, okay?" Or something like that.)
