Any George Brett fans in the Lounge?
I never much cared for the Royals one way or another, but I always liked George Brett.

Every movement of his was like poetry:

1. One of the best third-basemen ever.
And he was robbed on that bullshit home run call. That will always be one of the biggest asshole moves any umpiring crew has ever made.

29. This is true. When I was a teen I would hangout around the stadium trying to get autographs.
Got every Royals player multiple times except him because he used a secret back entrance. So I went out there a few days, was the only freakin kid there, I was about 14 years old with my baseball and pen in hand...jerk just drives by three days in a row!!! Once he waved I think but even the other players that used the back door would roll their window down and sign. He just drove on by. Didn't have no time for his fans.

Would've been nice to see him hit .400 that year, though.

11. I don't follow Major League Baseball anymore
But I'm still a Royals fan. Brett's home run in the seventh inning of Game 3 of the 1980 LCS should be every bit as legendary as other, lesser post-season home runs, but for some reason it isn't. I'm sure it isn't because it was hit against the Yankees, though, so I'll stop saying that.

19. Once he adopted his famous batting style Brett became
one of the most consistent batters ever to play.
And between them I think he and brother Ken played for @ 20 teams.

21. KC man here - George Brett is the greatest athlete we've ever had here
I may get some arguments here but really George Brett was really the biggest sports hero we've ever had here in Kansas City. He was consistent and just incredible for what 25 seasons? Damn. He was one of the last baseball greats.

Too bad the rest of our shitty Royals are so horrible. And don't even get me started on the Chiefs...

24. I was a kid during his last season or two, and got to see him play a few times.
I look forward to boring my kids with that someday, as they roll their eyes and ask what baseball was.

28. You're right - I didn't watch the video until after I responded and realized it was more of a joke.
But I only do that if you've got to click on videos because I'm usually not able to watch when I'm on DU.

Still, George Brett is da MAN!!!

25. "Just throw the bat at the ball"
I still remember his hitting advice to kids. One of the all-time greats, still one of my favorites. Maybe he should just buy the Royals and turn them around.
