1. 32 planets discovered outside solar system
http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/science/10/19/space.new.planets/index.html

"HARPS is a unique, extremely high precision instrument that ideal for discovering alien worlds," Stephane Udry of Geneva University, who made the announcement on behalf of the international consortium that built the instrument, said in the observatory statement. "We have now completed our initial five-year program, which has succeeded well beyond our expectations."

"We are on the road," Udry told CNN in a phone call from Portugal. "The end of the road is finding life and other planets like our own, but we have to go step by step."
HARPS has also boosted the discovery of so-called super-Earths -- planets with a mass a few times that of Earth. Of the 28 super-Earths known, HARPS facilitated the discovery of 24, the European Southern Observatory statement said. Most reside in multiplanet systems, with up to five planets per system.

3. In the 17th century the Roman Catholic Church ruled that the beaver was a fish
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beavers

In dietary law

In the 17th century, based on a question raised by the Bishop of Quebec, the Roman Catholic Church ruled that the beaver was a fish (beaver flesh was a part of the indigenous peoples' diet, prior to the Europeans' arrival) for purposes of dietary law. Therefore, the general prohibition on the consumption of meat on Fridays during Lent does not apply to beaver meat.<26><27><28> The legal basis for the decision probably rests with the Summa Theologica of Thomas Aquinas, which bases animal classification as much on habit as anatomy.<29> This is similar to the Church's classification of the capybara, another semi-aquatic rodent.<30>

11. I don't know the song!
But I've always found him to be very interesting so I know it's true: he had Anne Boleyn (wife two) beheaded for being a witch, and wife five (Catherine Howard) beheaded for infidelity. The rest were either cast aside, died in childbirth or outlived him.

Ok, been a long time since I've heard that song, doesn't mention what happened to the wives and exs and all that..... pretty catchy tough, isn't it?

on edit the link is the song, not a scene from the movie I mentioned that really didn't belong in the paragraph. An entire misplaced modifier senctence!
