Naked Naked Naked!!!
Edited on Mon Nov-09-09 08:33 PM by graywarrior
Now that I have your attention, DU geniuses: I need to find a theme to create a calendar using. . . ink drawings. They are incomplete and I have 4 weeks to create 8 more of these or go in a different direction. My instructor wants me to use my ink illustrations. What theme can I get out of these? I thought of doing a zodiac calendar, but I don't know how I'd relate my drawings to astrological signs.

(Why did I go back to school?)

1. Well, you have four weeks.
You could try to go for the sort of "illuminated letters" kind of thing for each month.
Draw inspiration from stuff like this:

2. Well, for sure you've got everybody thinking that nudity should be the theme...
:P

You've got no one but yourself to blame, graywarrior... ;-)

5. The immediate reaction that I had
after reading your post, and looking at your pen & inks was -

Studies of Lilith (Lileth) - your drawings (to my eye, at least) capture an aspect of the essential, and unrestrained, female. There are probably enough legends relating to Lilith to be able to get to a unified set of 12. FWIW. Just a thought ....

6. If you had stuck to the subject line I might have been able to help.
But I don't even have any more ideas for my own art, let alone others.

I wish you good luck though!

7. I like the zodiac idea.
The top one could be Virgo with a little embellishment.

The second one, create the same image but make it a negative of the original, put it next to that one and you have Gemini.

The third one, put a vessel in that hand and it that could be Aquarius, the water bearer. Or scales and she can be Libra.

The fourth one don't know.

Then do the rest. :D

9. They remind me of birds.
Each month a different bird emerging from a human figure.

10. Create a drawing a month
using women as the subject. Call it, I don't know, "Women in Ink"

13. It can be the different things that go wrong with hair through the 12 months.
Dry, humid, windy, wet, etc...

Do you know much about astrology? If so, it can be pretty easy to work with as there are colors, animals, gems, musical, notes, and many other symbolic affiliations with the signs.

Nice drawings BTW. Have you thought of using a Greek goddesses theme? That's what I thought of when I saw the pictures.

20. I'm with proteus!
But aside from that, and your lack of strategic duct tape portraiture, these are wonderful examples of the femme form.

Are you using a specific model? They all have a resonance and similarity of depth in the eyes

18. My dialup loads pics s-l-o-w-l-y
from the top down. So when your first (top) pic started loading the first thing that came to mind was Haight-Ashbury.

Stunning work, by the way.
