1. never had the privilege of seeing him; he died when I was eleven
but at least did get to see one of his main proteges, JB Hutto, on numerous occasions, and he was a powerhouse too, and a great showman. I certainly haven't heard all of Elmore's recorded output, but much of what I have heard didn't seem to do him justice compared to the handful of stuff I've heard that really did capture the power and excitement of his playing and singing, ( including if my memory serves me, the album that had this picture as its cover). Are you aware of any existing films of him playing? Everything on you tube seems to be still pictures...

2. I recommend the boxed set
"King of the Slide Guitar" - remastered, and culled from the Fire, Fury, and Enjoy labels.
