Entertaining premise. Great actors. A few funny scenes (just like to watch all these actors do their thing). But really? Kind of a letdown.


There was a trailer for "The Accidental Husband" before the movie, with Uma Thurman, Colin Firth, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Sam Shepard .. looked like it could be at least diverting; checked it out online and it got a big fat zero on rottentomatoes.com

What the heck is it with these good / great actors in crappily written/directed movies?

Why is it that there are bazillions of slasher movies, and no real, good movies? Why why WHY??

I had a similar reaction. It had a lot of things going for it, except that it just didn't work. However, I'd say you answered your own question about why so many slasher (or action) movies and not very many "good" movies. Slasher and action movies don't need to be "good". When in doubt, throw in a graphic killing, car chase, shoot out or explosion and forget about a plot or acting. Movies like "The Maiden Heist" need all of the elements (script, acting and directing) to work for the movie to be good. That unfortunately doesn't seem to happen very often.
