The Euro way: taxes and "licenses to watch television".
The US way: Tons of commercials pushed in your face.

If only I had access to some spare satellite capacity somewhere...

Never had cable at our house. We usually don't watch it much anyway, and then it's normally PBS. Didn't have to buy a converter box, neither. Hubs did some magic with an old laptop, a 17" flat panel and some odd and end doohickies (don't ask me coz I don't know.) I live with McGuyver. :rofl:
