Anyone familiar with projectors for a computer cause I need help!

I am doing a two day training for my agency that has to go on tomorrow and Tuesday, no backing out. I am using my supervisor's HP laptop and an Epson Powerlite s6 that the agency owns. The laptop and the remote control for the projector are not cooperating. The remote will work correctly on the projector but will not move through Powerpoint slides or function as a wireless mouse like it should be able to. I have used this computer on another projector and all I had to do was plug the projector in and everything worked fine. I have tried the really obvious things, but if anyone has any advice I am open. And when you give advice remember I am computer stupid so use small words.

Apparently, you have to select the mode you want the projector/remote to operate in (see pages 53, 67), but apparently if want to use the page up/down or wireless-mouse remote functions, then you can't use the USB TypeB connection for video, and have to use some other connection. Although apparently sw gets installed on the computer via said USB port, so if this hasn't been done it needs to be (see page 24; check computer).

You didn't seem to be getting other help, and I can relate to the pressures of circumstances.
