Neighbors make their own noise about 'hump honkers'

http://www.azstarnet.com/metro/316663

Brad Holland recognizes the war cry belching from his neighbor's car horn —
a shrieking disruption that can come at any hour, day or night.

That's because Holland lives in a neighborhood where speed humps and
honkers don't get along. To show their disdain for the asphalt tables,
protesters lay on their horns until they have completely cleared the hump.

"Some people take speed humps really personally," Holland said. "I don't get it."

Whatever it is, it isn't just a Tucson thing. Blogs, and even a few newspaper stories,
discussing this kind of speed-hump backlash have started popping up across the country.

'hump honkers', 'speed-hump backlash'

1. A hump for the horny
sounds better than honk if you're humpy.

2. Honestly I hope more people start to do this
those things are terrible. They slow down emergency vehicles and cost all other drivers gas, brakes and wear and tear of their suspensions.

3. I've never heard of that - it's funny, but a completely assholish thing to do
Does anyone really think that petulantly disturbing the neighborhood is actually going to stimulate critical thinking about speed bumps (as opposed to, say, attracting a brick through the windshield)?

4. Topes
they are at the ends of every single small hamlet in Mexico. And they are huge - you will mess up your vehicle if you forget.

Cuidado! Cuidado! Topes! Topes!
