Vizsla's in Sarasota? (Or anywhere...) Post pictures!!
Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 08:55 PM by burrfoot
This is our guy, a few months younger than he is now. He loves pretty much every dog he meets but gets particularly ridiculous when he sees another Vizsla.

(This is also a test, to see if I can upload pictures, so please bear with me and my cheesy post/thread)

* Edited 'cause I figured out how to post the picture direct and not just the links *

25. Your baby is adorable!!!!
I have a friend who breeds them in upstate NY> She got her first Viszla way back in the late 60's. His name was ERnie.

They are wonderful dogs..very lovable..and never have a doggy smell.

32. Thanks :)
Where is your friend in upstate NY?
That's where I grew up, and lived for most of my life. Just south of the Adirondacks- a little north of Utica, and about an hour east of Syracuse. Anywhere near there?

And the lack of doggy smell is a terrific benefit :)

3. Thank you!
We're mad about him. I did figure out the direct link thing, but now my pics are ginormous. (Yes, both giant AND enormous.)

Any way to size them down a little?

4. What are you using to post them? I use TinyPic (it's free) and you
can choose the 'message board' size there.

http://www.tinypic.com/

And what's the dog's name?

5. Photobucket.
It's my first time using it, there may be a sizing option there. Got to play around a little.

His name is Finnegan. We know they're Hungarian, but he was born on St. Patty's day :)

8. Finnegan is a great name for him! My dog
(a Belgian Sheepdog) used to have Vizsla playmates when she was a puppy - our neighbors had 2 of them and they were great dogs, wonderful temperments.

13. After you upload, the page will say "Share this image" and you
can select the size - the different options will be website, message board, email and direct link for layout. Just select the IMG for message board and paste it into this text box and the image will appear! It's really easy.

Yes, they do live in Sarasota, and we will probably be going down there at Christmas.

You really lived in Sarasota?

Our Italian greyhounds are very shy but love finding outher IGs at the dog park. I think its funny that they recognize their own breed.

27. Do they also
respond to Whippets and Greyhounds? Finn gets all happpy when he sees a GSP, too. I guess, since they can't really see color, it kind of makes sense :)
We always say "hey, Finn, it's a cousin!" and he zooms right over.

29. We think so too,
though we're slightly biased :)

Great, friendly personality but ungodly amounts of energy- we're experimenting with a gentle leader collar for the first time today. The lunging and pulling on the leash is a little out of control. Patience and practice, I suppose.

30. My brother and his wife have four of them.....
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 09:39 AM by A HERETIC I AM
But I don't have a current pic of them all. Here's a picture of the pack taken about 4 years ago;

Clockwise from the very top (The old dog) Kore (passed away in 06), Diesel, Maya (passed in '07), Devi, Loki and Belle.

Edited to add this anecdote;

Diesel is the perfect picture of the big doofus! He is lovable as hell but not all that sharp. My brother had some chickens for a while. Diesel got into their pen and decided the chickens wanted to go for a swim in the pond. Being hunting dogs, they have that "soft mouth" retrievers have so he caught the chickens one by one and took them to the pond on the property to...well....cool off, I suppose. Needless to say, the chickens didn't survive.

31. Holy Crap!
I can't imagine four of them...it must be a handful, but I bet it's an absolute blast. Obviously if there are chickens involved, they have some land for cavorting and general tomfoolery... Nice!

Also, gorgeous dogs!!

That is a magnificent pack they had there...
