16. I watched it on TV
with a group of 6 or 7 people. One woman, who REALLY liked it, commented at the end, "Well, you can be certain they'll make a sequel to that." There was kind of a stunned silence as she realized a movie showing them picking the frozen bodies out of the sea probably wouldn't do well at the box office.

It wasn't so hard.

6. Maybe you shoulda read the book, too.

The whole point of the foreword (by General Sir John Hackett) was the difference between fighting planning scenarios and fighting the Waffen SS.

19. its easier to boot up battlefield 1942, choose the scenario and..
fight.
Yep...captured the bridge many times.
I doubt General Sir John Hackett was talking about scenarios played on a dual core with a quality nvdia graphics card, was he?

20. Casting John Ratzenberger as an officer was the epitome of cool
Yes, it's a little known fact that Cliff Clavin from Cheers appears in that movie.

21. yeah, the most obvious game of 'pick out what doesn't belong' ever
connery, hopkins, caine, redford, hackman, caan, gould, ullman, schnell, fox, o'neal and ratzenberger...lol -- there's NO WAY that cast succeeds without him in there!

maybe bush went about it the wrong way in selling the iraq war...i'll be honest: you put someone like caine or hopkins in a uniform, have them say "we're going to iraq", and I'll be the FIRST to enlist...

22. John Paul Jones would have made it to the bridge
He was a fuckin' admiral.

He would have sailed the USS Constitution right up to it and kicked some Nazi ass.
