I got in a car accident tonight
I was on my way to work and was on 405. I was hit in the driver's side door and even though I spun out and ended up facing highway traffic, I managed to keep my wits and turned the car around and got it off the road. My car is still drivable but I can't open the driver's side door and amazingly, I came out of it with just a shoulder strain. I've decided to spend the night at the hospital (the hospital I work at) because I dont want to drive again tonight. I know I'm going to hurt like a buggerbear tomorrow but tonight, I feel really lucky.

1. I hope you got some good drugs out of all this
... of course, you did.

Anyway, I hope your injuries are as minor as you describe. And I hope your deductibles and co-pays don't ding your wallet too much.

Even with insurance, I got a pile of bills when I screwed up my shoulder (no vehicle involved). I think everyone who passed by in the hospital sent me a bill, or so it seemed.

Be nice to your Physical Therapist - they can cause a lot of pain if you piss them off.

:hi:

2. Glad you're ok.
I can't imagine how traumatic that must've been. Driving so soon afterwards would not have been good.

3. My dear tavalon...
Wow, what great presence of mind!

I'm thinking you really did keep your wits about you, and that's what helped so much. I sure hope you're not too sore today, sweetie...

Please take care!

7. I'm actually surprised that I was so quick
It felt almost second nature, but I've never been in a situation like that, ever. Maybe in another life.

Thank you for your kind words. I am sore but the nice doctor in the ER gave me some vicodin so it isn't so bad right now, but after I sleep, I expect to be more sore.

4. Whereabouts on the 405?
It's my front yard now. (Rather I sit up above it in Renton.)

6. I was traveling south but not that south
It was between 70th and the 520 interchange. Going 60 mph. I was lucky, damn lucky. Actually, both of us were. We both walked away. Unfortunately, she was likely cited. I wasn't, but I lost at least a year off my life in those short seconds.

9. That's one of the few reasons I don't have a car..
I am always so shellshocked after an accident.
