Memory foam pillows......worth it?

I bought these gel filled pillows, and they are nice, I usually sleep with two pillows, but only needed one of these, and I didn't have to plump and flip them all the time.

But man after laying on this topper, I am kinda wanting the pillows

1. I have a tempurpedic pillow.

I don't like using it on my bed; it is too firm and gives me a stiff neck. It's good for napping on the couch, though.

6. It is grade if you have neck problems... I had a prolapsed disk in August

in my neck. I cannot use a regular pillow after this... so I would call it very good.

I just bought some about a month or two ago, so my mom thought I was nuts when I bought my new ones last week. I suck at it, I'll try everyone in the store, laying my head on that damn plastic as I cradle it in one arm. I always leave confident that THIS time I finally picked a good one and I won't be flinging it across the room in the middle of the night because I have come to hate it that much. I'm pretty picky about my bedding, hehe.

My new ones I bought online, never tried them out or anything, read a brazillion reviews. We'll just have to wait and see. I liked them last night , but that doesn't mean much.

Keep in mind, however, that I normally sleep on a pile of pillows, lifted at an angle some would call sitting. For this purpose, for my mid back and shoulders, they are ideal. Much as the topper/foam mattress is good for many people in these areas.

I find that the solid foam pillows are not ideal for my head/neck. They are too firm. What I ended up doing was taking a cheap "memory foam" pillow that was shaped in the contour shape, which likewise did not provide comfort for me, and some scissors, and cutting the foam into approximately inch squares. then i shoved it all back into the zippered pillow cover provided with the pillow. Now, that provides the flexibility of shape and use that I need for my neck/head.

So.. solid foam pillows(i have 3, 2 different tempurpedic, one other) tend toward the firm. Where the topper firmness is countered by your weight, the head does not have the weight to do the job.

Thats my experience. Yours may differ. I would (metaphorically) kill for a couch with temperpedic cushions, though.

7. I got one of those Tempur-Pedic Swedish Neck pillows at an auction once...

... they're OK but I find that they do trap body odor quite well unfortunately and if you have a sweaty neck the pillow then starts to whiff a bit after a while. Multiple pillow cases that are washed frequently will fix this. Regular el-cheapo pillows don't have this problem but for me, the solution was simple. The fancy pillow with an older, flatter regular pillow on top!
