I bought new art
I love really good pin up art. I only have one in my collection right now, but I was thrilled to find that it went up in value since my purchase. Of course I just have a print, but still. I won't sell cause I love it.

I just bought this one and am waiting for it to arrive.

To balance the color scheme and and space in my room I want to purchase another with a blueish color scheme.

I am torn between these two

I love the vivid colors, the romantic fantasy in it. This is my fave visually of the two choices

I also love this one

Its a little strange for a pin up, the doctors office, but that is why I like it. It is very ME, as I am always sick and I like the idea of her being sexy even when sick. However, I don't find it as visually pleasing or romantic as the first. But I feel drawn to it.

All are by Gil Elvgren

1. I like the first one,
lounging with the letters, more than the one with the x-ray. I'd be staring at that x-ray thinking, "that just doesn't look right. She's not well!" :P

2. I know what you mean
part of the attraction of pin up art for me is the romantic notion, the fantasy world, I always wonder what the artist was thinking as he created each one, the back story of each subject in his head and what in his life led him to this vision.....

first one is very happy

second is just so different, I almost want to buy it and not display it right now, but then I'm not made of money....hehe

I can't display all as my room is TINY right now......I'm babbling

love ya thom

3. I love pinup art, too
:D

All your choices are nice. I know I've seen the second one online, but not sure about the other two.

Years and years ago when I had some "inheritance" money, I bought some Olivia prints and lithos. I have them stored in between archival mounting board for that time when I have the income to get them professionally mounted. Two are lithos, though I may have a third (I haven't pulled them out to look at them in a long while...)

It's her older style, the one I prefer :)

4. I love her work
want to purchase a book of it someday

I love the one I bought, well naturally. I love how she is squeezing into her lingerie, not quite fitting but sexy as hell about it.

6. Gil Elvgren did a lot of great work
I'm not into the emphasis on high heels, thus why I go for the fantasy stuff instead.

I wouldn't mind finding some decent belly dancer pinup paintings. All I know of out there are the classics in art ;)

7. I kind of like the heels
Not into anything feet usually.....hehe.....but I like the romantic notion of lying there in bed, being at the beach, playing with a dog, wearing pjs, a bathing suit, and then for no reason, these ridonculous heels, just cause they make you feel sexy. It is always nice to do something every now and then that makes no sense, just cause it makes you feel good.

8. If that's what you like, go for it!

I'm not female, and I still don't get the male desire for those almost impossibly long heels. Clothing can certainly be titillating (and one reason I like watching belly dance) but the heels do nothing for me.

10. oh me, I hardly ever wear heels
silly painful things, wished I could wear them but I can't even stand in them.

I like the idea of SOMETHING making you feel pretty and in those pin ups it seems heels do it for them, me I like for, ok this is silly, I like for my underwear to match my clothes, even if nobody is going to see them, it makes me feel prettier.

I took a belly dancing class, it was a lot of fun!

I think women who can belly dance well are very sexy, I am not one of them, hehe

14. All kinds of women do belly dance,
so you might consider taking classes again. Or join a meet-up group. I'm in one for Houston and it's pretty cool. You'd think it would be only for women, but I also love the music, cuisine, and the art of the dance. So, fans can join, too. However, if you ever go to a show, expect the other dancers at the end to invite all the women in the crowd up front for a group dance :D

16. thanks
There were all different types of women....age, body type, weight, ethnic backgrounds. I felt vey comfortable there. I just meant I don't think I was very good at it. I think, this was a good 8 years ago, I think I was too reserved to really let loose, so it may be fun to try it again now.......hmmmmm

I'll keep an eye out for belly dancing pin up for you. I found one where the pin up was painting......so me, but it wasn't a very nice color scheme. I tried to find one in which the subject was taking a picture for my sis, but no luck yet.

19. If you want to look, go ahead.
I may have it, though. Too often belly dance art ends up in my djinni collection as I forget to separate it out ;)

Here are a few that kind of qualify:

(the last one is not pinup, just a nice little graphic :D)

21. I don't know why, but I am scared of belly dancers
I think they have the gift to know someone is easily embarrassed and will call on you to dance with her. I went to a Moroccan restaurant once and sure as shit..the belly dancer picked me!

22. I'll have to ask my friends about that
but it sure does seem as you point out.

What you could do next time (if there is one) is to just have some dollar bills for a tip to slip into their hip-belt instead. That's usually enough to prevent being picked to dance in front of the crowd.

only to have her swivel the hip away..then she would bring it back only to swivel it away again!! I was so flustered...lol

20. I didn't know they had put out trading cards.
I used to collect "non-sport" trading cards, mostly political ones, like the Iran-Contra set ;)

There were also some note cards produced. I have the "Genie" one but no others.

The one you have framed is very nice. I like the use of negative space :D

9. My dear Rising Phoenix!
I love your new art!

And of the two you're torn between,I think I prefer the one of the girl on the bed. It just looks sexier, and cozier to me.

Plus she's holding a love letter, not a cold xray!

Enjoy your new art, sweetie!

12. I like the second because you can see her inside and outside but
no naughty bits. And besides, if I could choose I'd be a redhead. And my doctor fantasies are my own. Ahem!

13. hehe
I like that is is so unique......I tried to go red once, got it done by a professional, it lasted about a week and then faded to this awful color, I had a horrible time coloring after, nothing took. I finally chopped it and started all over.

Right now my hair is blonde, dark brown ( my natural) and purple.

and now

and not stick figures like today's "beautiful" women so often do?
