My daughter was burglarized yesterday.

Someone broke into her apartment and stole her new laptop. They took some Peruvian coins that she got on a trip there. They even took a roll of quarters sitting on the dresser. She was getting ready to do laundry.

Fortunately, she was wearing her nicer jewelry. I gave her an opal ring on her 21st birthday that is a family heirloom. It has three stones, and you just can't find opals that look that nice any more.

She borrowed money to get the laptop. She needed it to to her paralegal training. I have a new Mac sitting in a box right next to me. If she wants it, I can limp along with my old computer for awhile longer. It's not as though I am rich, but I can do this.

It's not as though she has much. They took the only really nice things she has.

The bit with the quarters reminds me of a story a friend once related of their maintenance guy going into their apartment while they were out and taking their accumulated coinage, saved for laundry. Some people!

4. Damn! About 5 years ago my apartment was broken into and my laptop stolen.
