Because there is a world of difference in terms of creepiness and social acceptance betwixt the two...it's literally the difference between rubbing up against your partner or loved one for contact and gratification (behavior ranging from cuddling to dry-humping) who is either enjoying it or not minding; and sexually-assaulting people on the crowded subway. Been on the receiving end of both: one is endearing and one is a crime.

I've known them since college and one of them once re-enacted some of the great naval ship-to-ship battles of the high age of pirates with me in a 24-hr. supermarket at 4am.

"Arrrrrrgh! There's only one captain of this ship!" (as I kicked him off my shopping cart and skittering across the floor.)

You'd think the employees would have been irate but they were deeply-amused and entertained by the whole thing...supermarkets are really boring at 4am and there is nothing to do. Of course, it would have been better with some frottage...preferably not from him.
