Actually, that's not true. There are quite a few Southern Marylanders I did not care for in my experience there.

It's the AF-S NIKKOR 70-300mm 1:4.5 - 5.6 VR. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/70-300-vr.htm

It has a big 'sunblocker' (no idea what's the English name for it is,) so if you want to carry a lightweight camera, this one's awkward. It's big. But it's a great lens, and I'm totally in love with it.

go for the 85mm 1.8. For digital cameras, it's almost 120mm/analog. Really sweet, sweet lens, and the one (analog) I used the most back in the days. Pretty compact, too.

The 70 - 300mm is around $540 I saw from the link I posted. If you're not bothered by taking it around, I highly suggest it. It's sure not a tourist lens, because it gets in the way of everything; I'd suggest having a camera bag then. :hi:

It would be my ONLY lens, lol!

I am done with the days of switching lenses...too old for carrying around lots of stuff!

Right now I'm using a Tamron (made for Nikon) 18-250mm lens.

I really like it, but I understand that the Nikon lenses are way superior to the Tamron.

Keep it, no need to get another. It's really a fine lens that will cover most (if not all) what you want to achieve. The rest is about the camera settings itself. ;)
