1. Gotta be the Lotus Esprit.
You can't say no to a car that changes into a submarine.

The DB5 comes in a very close second.

7. They had no CGI back then- they actually built that "Lotus Esprit Submarine" to film those scenes...
Coolest Bond car EVER!

The DB5 can kiss my shiny metal ass.
Does it do anything that anyone is IMPRESSED BY nowadays?
Does it HOVER...does it go back in time when it hits 77mph?

Nope. It just has a bluetooth interface...Oooh, high-tech shit!:eyes:
PFFT!
Feature-wise, it's less impressive than the average cellphone
being carried by an average teenage mall-monger.

27. Having had some Lotus experience I think "The car Emma Peal
stood next to while waiting for the tow truck" might be more apropos.

...with vented carbon ceramic brake discs on all four corners

Now THAT'S sexy.

22. That's a pretty low bar to hurdle.
For the most part, the styling these days is atrocious. That, on the other hand, is one of the best-styled cars ever, IMO! Wow!

5. What, no AMC Hornet? :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F8gTRmrmgI

I went with the DB5 because it's the most iconic of all of them and most closely associated with the cinematic Bond. In the novels he drove a Bentley convertible.

11. The '71 Mach I Mustang and the '69 Mercury cougar XR7 belong up there, too...
man the suspension on that AMC is one of the bounciest I've seen in a movie chase scene...

26. The silly slide whistle sound effect didn't help matters any
I think the most ridiculous Bond scene ever was the Tarzan yell in Octopussy. And what was up with having animals doing double takes?

6. Anyone voting for anything other than the DBS V12 doesn't know cars.
The DB5 doesn't do much of anything well. Yes, it's nostalgic, that's nice. Having the same 0-60 time as a Hyundai Elantra? Not so nice. Handling like a half full bucket of paint? Even worse.

And turning into a submarine? How often will you need that? Might just be easier to outrun whatever is coming after you with a near as makes no difference 600 horsepower V12. I mean yeah, you MIGHT need to take to going underwater when you've got 150 horsepower being rowed through a Citroen tranny, but whatever. And the final word on the Esprit? Lucas electrics. So going underwater might be nice, but it would be better if it worked while you're down there.

The Z8 from BMW is an interesting choice to consider, except that after 30 minutes driving it you'd want to run it into a tree JUST so you didn't have to drive it anymore. It's a lesson they learned. It's like the VW Golf W12 car. Just because you CAN build it, doesn't mean that you should.

And that stupid 750il. Why Bond would have that thing with that boat anchor under the hood rather than opting for the Benz AMG Hammer of the day is so far beyond me, I can't ask. 280 or so horsepower from a V12? My turbo 6 Buick Grand National of those days would have laughed at that. It's a great car on it's own, but in comparison to what James Bond should be driving? Mistake.

12. I'm a sucker for British cars from the 60s
Love the styling of the DB5. I've owned a couple of Spitfires and a AH3000. I was going to get a classic Mini to play with when the new ones came out.
If you talk about performance, I'll agree with you 100%. For looks I'll take the DB5 and replace all Lucas parts and the SU carbs.

Aston Martin DBS? Stolen, crashed, wreck sold for 200k

No, for my money the coolest James Bond car was the Toyota 2000 GT, so cool you guys didn't even mention it:

My next door neighbor in 1967 was a Doctor, and his wife was a doctor too. He had this identical car, and took me for several rides before he crashed it on an "emergency call".
