Anyone here ever play Leisure Suit Larry?
I had a friend who had the original one and I think I managed to work my way thru the entire game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leisure_Suit_Larry_in_the_Land_of_the_Lounge_Lizards

When he got the 2nd game we never got even partway thru it.

Anyone else remember these games?

1. Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards - how I wasted much of 1988
One of my fave lines:

"You are facing a red, naugahyde door. You wonder how many poor naugas gave up their lives to create it."

3. I was more into Space Quest, and I wasted probably 3 straight months on one
of the fantasy ones (Ultima Underworld?), but I played Larry too. Good times...

9. Ahhh Space Quest...
Didn't they get Gary Owens to narrate the later ones?

4. I think I might have, but I remember preferring ...
... Zork for my text-based RPG entertainment.

5. No, but I played Zork 1, 2 and 3 on my old Apple IIe.
I think Leisure Suit Larry and Zork came out about the same time.

10. no, but for some reason your post reminded me of Gabriel Knight.
Anyone here ever play that one?

My all time favorite though, (of old-time 90s games) was Shivers. That game totally rocked. Shivers II I could never get into.

Then, Lara Croft came into my life, and I've been with her ever since. (Whenever I play computer games, which isn't often, in fact, it's been years. I gave up gaming when I started grad school in 2004.)

17. That predicament seems particularly cruel
Kids today don't appreciate how good they have it. In the old days, we had to use pen and paper to keep track of where we were in the maze. We entered commands through a keyboard and had to use our imagination.

This was then:

This is today:

I don't miss the old days one bit.

15. Yes. I collect "vintage" software, and Leisure Suit Larry is a CLASSIC!
He's in the top 3 of the old-school "point & click" games, IMHO.

16. I think I still have the disk somewhere...
now, if I could only find a 3.5" drive...

Anyway, I rarely got past where he got beat up in the alley or got the clap from the whore because it was just so cool watching him die.

(I did finally get to see ALL the punchlines from the loung comic.)

25. Yep, stayed up all night to win this one once, when I was 12 I think :)
Also, Police Quest, Kings Quest, and Space Quest. Really groundbreaking as far as video games go and interaction, etc. I've got to give most of my current typing skills to learning how to type when I was a kid using King's Quest when you had to type in all the questions and stuff.
