I question the intelligence of anyone who finds Everybody Loves Raymond funny.
And sadly, that goes for my dead grandmother and my alive mother - both couldn't get enough of that shit-tastic show.

1. I thought it was funny in the first season.
Keep in mind that I was 7 when it first came out...

2. I'll fess up to liking it...
I even enjoy reruns of "The Golden Girls". I find myself looking for ridiculous things to watch on TV because there's too much gore.

What do you mean, you mean the way they talk? What? Funny how? What's funny about it? What did ya say? Funny how? You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fucked up maybe, but Raymond is funny how, I mean funny like Raymond is a clown, he amuses you? He makes you laugh, he's here to fuckin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How is Raymond funny? No, no, I don't know, you said it. How do I know? You said Raymond is funny. How the fuck is Raymond funny, what the fuck is so funny about Raymond? Tell me, tell me what's funny!

11. You are kidding me.
The whole premise of the show is more or less "Hell is other people," or maybe "Purgatory is other people," if you will. And yes, it is funny and has a good ensemble cast.

14. Never watched it.
Or Seinfeld.
Or any 'reality' show of any kind.
Or American Idol.
Or Friends.
Or Cheers.
Or...

Can you see a trend here?

15. Peter BOYLE had a hilarious line on the Actors Studio about ROMANO
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 11:29 PM by UTUSN
Whassisname, the host intro-ed a scene where ROMANO was going to reenact something as "Raymond".

BOYLE was sitting with the rest of the "Raymond" cast, had his head downcast in a pensive position while the others were being addressed, and BOYLE said, "Wait till you see THIS transformation!1" (Of ROMANO into his "Raymond" character. NO CHANGE.)

On Edit: BOYLE. Peter BOYLE. Not Peter FINCH!1

16. I think I saw about 3 minutes of it once
a few years ago.
I'm not much of a fan of TV "comedies" - I got spoiled by "Married With Children."

18. It had its moments. There were worse sitcoms out there. But...
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 10:14 AM by Tommy_Carcetti
....I think its problem was it ended up being too formulaic. Every episode was how either Ray does something to annoy Deborah, or Deborah does something to annoy Ray, or one of the parents did something to annoy either Ray and/or Deborah.

It could be funny at times, but it could also just be, well, uncomfortable with all the family bickering. Like a Thanksgiving Dinner gone wrong.

...it was very funny at times, much better than crap like Sex in the City or Frasier.

23. I think 'According to Jim' should be the shit measuring stick.
never really watched 'Raymond' but I've had the misfortune of catching some of 'ATJ' and that my friend makes skid marks in underwear seem more appealing .
