My laptop doesn't have a 'print screen' key.
????
It's a Compaq Presario.

I was working through a problem installing the 2010 version of Bit Defender (anti-virus) and part of the instructions were to capture any 'error' messages that might come up by doing a print screen.

No. Can. Do.

2. You can actually buy the key ...
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 06:32 PM by AsahinaKimi
Then kind of wedge it into your keyboard.. press really heard...once you hear it click..its in there. If it doesn't fit, just replace it with the ctrl key..(why do you think there are two ctrl keys?) since you have two of them. As for hitting it and expecting a printed paper to come out.. well, that's a whole nother installation.

3. Which model? Does it look like this?
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 06:31 PM by PeaceNikki

If so, it's Fn and the key second from the right on top row (the Insert key).

13. Well what's the point of that, if half the screen is covered by those big menus?

unless you want it to.

It works on a programmable delay. Not as handy as the Printscrn key but if one doesn't have a printscrn key you have to make do.

19. And ...

You can easily remap that little utility to work with any key or key combination you so desire.

Actually, one could probably do that in Windoze too, but I haven't the first clue how.

15. I did! Mint 7 on an Acer netbook and as a dual boot with Vista on an HP laptop,

and Kubuntu 9.10 on a ~2003 Dell desktop.

I had to mess around a little to get the wireless to work on the HP, as it has the infamous Broadcom card, but I found several posts on the Ubuntu forum explaining how to blacklist the bcm43 drivers, and now it is running flawlessly (and wirelessly!) on Vista and Mint. The netbook took to Mint as if it were designed for it - I just wiped the factory XP install and 30 minutes later I was up and running with a fresh new OS.

I have had no trouble at all with the desktop either - I inherited it from a relative and it still had the OEM XP install and very outdated antivirus and firewall software. It also was suffering from a nasty AOL infection. I increased the memory from 256mb to 2gb, installed Kubuntu, and it also is running flawlessly.

It seems like the *buntu variations are becoming very user friendly and I am very impressed with both Mint and Kubuntu.

18. Good for you!

I played with Linux many years ago just for the heck of it but it's only been recently that it's matured to the point where I feel comfortable making it my primary system for the home. I got on board with Ubuntu 8.10. The tipping point for me was an automatic update that completely hosed my system forcing a reset to a restore point followed by a complete system reinstall. Of course, restoring from disk also requiring downloading about a GB of service packs. Then when the update came a long a couple of days later and repeated its 'magic.' That was the day I decided no more.

12. simple solution...
Use a digital camera and take a picture of the screen.
Download the image to your computer, open an image viewer/editor and print it!

I don't know what could be simpler.
