So what did you think of Dexter this week? (SPOILERS)
Wow! That show just continues to blow me away every week. Such a well-written show. We sure learned a lot more about Trinity this week. I had a 'theory' about him, and it turns out I was partially correct! I thought that the people he killed were representative of his mother, his father, and perhaps his sister--and they were! But then I went in the wrong direction. I thought there was some rage toward them and that he'd wanted to kill them--or perhaps he had. But it appears that he cared about them, loved them. Why is he doing it? Not sure--is is some sort of 'tribute' to them or a way to keep their memory alive?

I figured Dexter would stalk him, try to learn all about him, try to figure out how he operated and how he stayed under the radar. But it was pretty wild seeing them hanging out together--don't think I expected that! Not to mention Dexter sort of getting 'advice' from Trinity on how to fit in and keep his family. Once I found out last week that Trinity had a family, I had wondered how the heck he could have struck in so many different parts of the country. Man, the habitat-for-humanity type project--what a cover!

So what did you think?

1. Remember the hammer attack?
Edited on Mon Nov-02-09 08:29 PM by targetpractice
Trinity yelled to his victim "You made me do it!!"

Earlier, he took a scalding shower after killing the woman in the tub (reminiscent of his sister).

My hunch is that he killed his sister, mother, and father... probably to escape some kind of abuse or trauma... and he appears to repeat the killings ritually to quell his rage.. to keep his family life under control today.

4. I do remember that.
That was one of the things that made me think it had something to do with his father.

And wasn't that wild when Trinity GAVE the hammer to Dexter!

2. I loved this week's episode too!
Here's my question: did Trinity kill his mother, father, and sister? If he did, why? and then why repeat the pattern? Maybe that is just his inner beast like Dexter has his?

I also liked how Dexter actually is learning from Trinity how to 'incorporate', as it were, his other life into his family life. Plain in view for all to see, just like Trinity.

You are right about the writing, Kat45-- this is one of the best written and best acted series, IMHO, on television! I'm always frustrated when Emmy time comes around. Michael C. Hall is always nominated, but he has yet to win. He's so good, its HIS turn, for crying-out-loud!

5. You're right about Michael C. Hall.
And this is the kind of show--the type of story, the bloodiness--that I never, ever watch! The writing has to be good to have sucked me in to watching it. lol

8. I wondered after seeing him in the tub with his wife
every moment of which paralleled the bathtub murders, if perhaps he had been intimate with his sister, and that it was forbidden or discovered by his parents, which may have started the string of murders.

I kind of shudder at that thought, but seeing his actions with his wife - and the direction of the camera shots/dialog - made me wonder about it.

3. The end of the episode was awesome
"There's dangerous stuff in there"

Then the look on Dexters face was priceless, just kind of like... "Good point" heh, cracked me up :D

7. This show is just getting better and better and better!
I thought last night's episode was one of the very best. I think Trinity is the one who killed his family. It would be highly improbable that they all would have died in such tragic ways as a coincidence. A theory might be that his sister was blatantly the favorite of the parents and that's where it all started. A good story line would be flash backs as to what actually happened. Man, I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

I absolutely agree about Michael C. Hall. He should have won for Six Feet Under for God's sake! I also get so pissed at Emmy time when he loses. Maybe he'll win at some point. No one deserves it more.

9. Aside from Rita still being alive, I thought it was great!
I'm ok with family guy Dexter, but the marriage therapy sessions are going too far. Rita needs to either get a hobby, or get hit by a bus.

Does Trinity's wife know what he does? It's obvious that he is comfortable in his home life, but I can't help but wonder if part of that comfort is because his wife helps keeps his secret. I don't know, I guess it was just the way she told him that she knew he was standing in the doorway when she was in the bathtub (a bathtub that looked eerily similar to the one in the crime scene photos).

10. Yeah, that bathtub creeped me out when I saw it.
That show is just so well constructed. Every little thing is just right.
