1. damn.

I knew Britney couldn't sing but I am shocked by Beyonce's voice. I mean I'm not saying she's such a great singer in general but she can carry a tune. Something musta been wrong with her ear piece cuz that was just horrific!

2. Ok, I'll go out on a limb here ---

singing in a concert setting is incredibly hard. Unless you have a monitor right in front of you or have a really good earpiece with your own vocals coming back to you, it is almost impossible to stay on key or gauge your own singing. And dancing during your singing makes it that much more difficult. Take a listen to The Beatles live at the Holywood Bowl -- their vocals STINK because they couldn't hear themselves sing.

With that said, I still think BS is a poor singer and Beyonce' not much better.

Her mic was suppose to be on. She typically sings at her concerts but her mic is turned down. There's a technical term for this but I can't remember it.

These are not the best examples to judge Britney and Beyonce. Neither is a great singer but picking the worse examples and writing them off isn't fair. Here's a few examples of Britney where sounds good and pretty close to recorded version.
